    Description

Antique Mauchline Ware Bell Tape Measure
    Scottish * Circa 1890s * Owl's Head Maine
This little figural tape measure is in the form of a bell and is carved of sycamore wood. It was made by the W. & A. Smith Co. in Mauchline Scotland. It has a print entitled "Owl's Head, Rockland, ME". It shows the Owl's Head Lighthouse, built in 1825. Smith made souvenir pieces for distributors all over the world. The silk tape is marked in inches and is complete (36").
    I
t's in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or other damage. The knob on top turns to wind the tape back in and it works perfectly. It measures 2" high and the base is 1 3/8" in diameter. The bottom has the original paper.
